Jean Prouvé

Designed at the beginning of the 1950s for the Cité Universitaire at Antony, near Paris, this chair was one of Prouvé's last efforts in the field of furniture design.

Cité Armchair is one of Prouvé's early masterpieces, designed for a competition for furnishing the halls of residence at Nancy's Cité Universitaire.

Chairs take the most strain on their back legs, where they bear the weight of their user's upper body.
